Membership

Club Membership

Currently Club membership is limited to 120 comprising, to a significant extent, of present and former employees of the Snowy Mountains Authority and their families.

As a cooperative club, Tate Ski Club is a non profit making organisation.  Membership fees and accommodation charges are based on cost recovery.  As a result Tate aims to provide affordable family accommodation to members and families who come from a broad range of occupations and backgrounds.

Membership Admission Policy

The intention of the admission policy is to ascertain if a candidate for membership is likely to be an active member in all respects and also if they are likely to accept and be accepted by the members.

Applicants for Tate Ski Club membership are assessed on the following criteria:

  • The applicant must attend and participate in a minimum of two (2) days of official Club work parties, and must have stayed at the lodge on at least 5 nights, which may include two nights stayed during work parties, in a period of a maximum of a year either immediately prior or post or straddling the date of the application.
  • During the workparty and stay occasions the applicant will be assessed for the ability to accept and be accepted by the members.

Applications will be considered by the Board after the requirements for work parties and stays have been complied with.

Please Note:

  1. Currently, during workparty stays, the Club provides at the lodge, free accommodation to all participants and family members, and free catered morning/afternoon tea and evening meals.
  2. The Club also offers $70 maximum fuel money to work party participants driving to the lodge.
  3. Applicants stays at other than workparty times will be charged at standard guest rates.
  4. The Club is not bound to accept an application even though the applicant has complied with the work party requirements and stays part of the assessment, and need not offer any reason for the rejection.

Summer Associate Membership

Although Summer Associate Members do not have full membership rights, they have benefits during the summer period, which is between 15 October and 31 May, when they are entitled to stay at the lodge at members' rates. D uring winter they may stay at the lodge, but must pay associate rates. They now have priority booking for the winter peak and off-peak periods between 15 April and 1 May. (Full members have priority booking from 1 April.) Summer members no longer have to have a member sponsor them - either during the winter or summer.

Unlike a full member, summer members do not have a shareholding in the club. While they have no voting rights, they are very welcome to attend AGM's and other general meetings, and to participate in social activities.

Summer associates pay an annual fee of $100, and there is no joining fee.

Becoming a summer associate does not give a person priority or guarantee that they will be offered full membership.
